This journey began with a leap of faith, a decision that felt both terrifying and exhilarating. Like many, my early years were shaped by conventional aspirations: the steady career path, the 9-to-5 security, the pursuit of a well-defined professional identity. From kindergarten, we were programmed to envision futures as firemen, doctors, or corporate professionals, with college applications looming as early as ninth grade, cementing the belief that success was inextricably linked to a traditional career. I followed the blueprint – I earned my degree, secured an internship, and landed a job that I genuinely loved and found deeply fulfilling. It was a role where I invested much of my personal identity, yet beneath the surface, a persistent whisper urged me towards a different path. Last week, I answered that call. I stepped away from my full-time position to dedicate myself entirely to the growth of my nutrition business and health blog, Unbound Wellness.
The Genesis of a Wellness Dream
My senior year of high school was a period of both conformity and profound divergence. In many ways, it mirrored the experiences of my peers: a relentless cycle of college applications, SAT preparations, and the daunting task of making life-altering decisions before truly understanding myself. However, my path took an unexpected turn when I began experiencing debilitating Hashimoto’s symptoms. For the majority of that academic year, I remained undiagnosed, grappling with an illness that often left me too weak to attend school without the fear of fainting. My days were frequently spent confined to my bed, and in this isolation, I found solace and distraction browsing online, from fashion sites to social media. It was during one of these digital explorations that I stumbled upon my very first health blog. That serendipitous discovery was a pivotal moment; it ignited a spark, revealing a world where I could combine writing, creativity, and a passion for helping others achieve better health. Lying sick in bed at 17, in the throes of an autoimmune flare, I recognized my calling: to guide others through the struggles I was experiencing, but in a way that was engaging, informative, and deeply compassionate.
Following my official Hashimoto’s diagnosis, my focus sharpened into an intense fascination with nutrition. This led me to enroll at Texas Women’s University, pursuing a degree in dietetics with the aspiration of becoming a Registered Dietitian. Paradoxically, this academic path, intended to fuel my passion, instead began to stifle my inherent creativity, leaving me feeling disoriented and uncertain. I questioned whether it was the scientific rigidity of dietetics itself, or perhaps the compelling digital communication aspects of the online health world, that truly captivated me.
Ultimately, I completed my degree specializing in Emerging Media and Communication, pivoting towards a career in digital marketing. My first professional role was with an internet ministry, a challenging, rewarding, and incredibly engaging experience. I thrived in this environment, confirming my innate drive to help people through digital platforms. Yet, the persistent pull towards nutrition and holistic health remained a powerful undercurrent.
Not long after, I returned to formal education, this time enrolling at the Nutritional Therapy Association. It was here, armed with newfound knowledge and a clearer vision, that I began to build Unbound Wellness – my personal manifestation of what I had always felt called to do. Gradually, through consistent effort and unwavering dedication, my business and blog expanded. What started as a modest endeavor serving a handful of individuals blossomed into a thriving community reaching tens, then hundreds, then thousands, and now tens of thousands of followers and clients. I started my own nutritional therapy practice, published an insightful e-book, and finally gathered the courage to make the life-altering decision to pursue Unbound Wellness as my full-time career.
Years of unwavering dedication culminated in the monumental leap to pursue Unbound Wellness, leaving behind a secure full-time position.
Navigating the Emotional Landscape of a Career Transition
Despite the clarity of my vision and the profound satisfaction of building Unbound Wellness, the decision to leave my full-time job was far from easy. As I mentioned, I genuinely loved my previous role. The mission of internet ministry resonated deeply with me, and I wholeheartedly believed in the impact I was making. Walking out on my last day felt like a punch to the gut; I honestly thought I might be sick. The decision itself was a grueling process that spanned many months, filled with internal debates, tears, and an overwhelming sense of guilt. It was intensely, profoundly difficult. In a strange way, I felt incredibly blessed to have had a job so meaningful and fulfilling that it made saying goodbye such an arduous task. It’s a testament to the quality of that experience.
Defying societal norms – the ingrained expectation of a stable, conventional career – is inherently challenging. There’s a popular narrative that breaking free from this conventional path will be an instant source of liberation, glamorous, and straightforward. My experience proved otherwise. The reality is often far more complex than the idealized image we construct. Everything always appears infinitely easier from the outside looking in. Even though I felt an undeniable, magnetic pull toward this entirely different endeavor, it did not diminish the difficulty of disengaging from the familiar comfort of my previous life. It demanded immense courage and a willingness to confront deeply ingrained beliefs about success and stability.
Sometimes, transforming your deepest aspirations into reality requires an extraordinary leap of faith – a monumental jump into the unknown. That is precisely what I chose to do, committing fully to the vision of Unbound Wellness.
My Strategic Approach to Building Unbound Wellness
It’s important to clarify that embarking on this journey does not instantly translate into a full-time salary from Unbound Wellness. My entrepreneurial spirit has been active since I was 16, honing my skills as an “internet side hustler.” I’ve developed a knack for identifying monetization avenues and have been relatively successful in generating supplementary income. Earning a little extra cash on the side, especially when pursuing something enjoyable, is one thing; generating a full-time, sustainable income is an entirely different beast. While Unbound Wellness has reached a significant milestone and is gaining considerable momentum, I won’t be appearing on any “top internet entrepreneur” lists in the immediate future.
There comes a critical juncture in the journey of building any business: you’ve progressed a substantial way, gained traction, and you find yourself thinking, “If only I had more time…” For a long period, I was working a demanding 40-hour week at my full-time job, then returning home every evening and dedicating every weekend to Unbound Wellness. While this relentless pace allowed me to build momentum and bring my dream closer to reality, it became clear that more time was the ultimate limiting factor. So, I strategically created that time.
Instead of diving headfirst into Unbound Wellness with a “go all in” mentality, I opted for a more measured and sustainable approach. My strategy involves scaling back my professional commitments, engaging in freelance work, and maintaining a part-time schedule. This hybrid model provides me with the crucial flexibility and additional hours during the week to dedicate to my passion project. As I mentioned, I genuinely enjoy side hustling and find it incredibly rewarding. This strategic balance also allows me to remain active within the digital marketing and ministry space, fields I also deeply appreciate, while simultaneously pouring energy into Unbound Wellness.
A Glimpse into My Weekly Workflow
This structured approach ensures that Unbound Wellness receives the attention it needs to flourish, while also providing financial stability during this crucial growth phase.
- Monday & Tuesday: These days are dedicated to eight hours of marketing work in an office setting. Upon returning home, I allocate a couple of additional hours to manage emails and follow up with clients, ensuring seamless communication.
- Wednesday: I spend four hours in the office focusing on marketing tasks, followed by four hours at home engaged in freelance digital marketing projects. This blend allows for diverse professional engagement.
- Thursday: My mornings are committed to four hours of freelance digital marketing, which then transitions into four dedicated hours for Unbound Wellness, focusing on crafting new blog posts and working directly with clients.
- Friday: This is a full eight-hour immersion into Unbound Wellness. My activities range from innovative recipe development and food photography to writing in-depth blog posts and developing new products that serve my community.
- Saturday & Sunday: The ultimate goal is to truly rest and recharge during the weekends. It’s a work-in-progress, but vital for long-term sustainability! 😛
Every single day, regardless of the schedule, is generously punctuated with nourishing matcha, comforting bone broth, and an abundance of cat snuggles – essential ingredients for maintaining balance and well-being.

As I write this, I’m only a few days into this new lifestyle paradigm. There’s undoubtedly much to learn and observe as this strategic shift unfolds, but my heart is filled with hope and an immense sense of excitement for the future!
The Vision for Unbound Wellness: Charting Future Growth
If I were to disclose every single detail of my ambitious plans for Unbound Wellness, I’d have to “gluten” you – which, in this corner of the internet, is akin to revealing a closely guarded secret! 😛 But truly, the potential feels limitless, and I am bursting with ideas and energy.
Exciting Endeavors and Aspirations on the Horizon:
My current focus and long-term dreams for Unbound Wellness include several exciting developments:
- Increased Content Output: Moving from one blog post per week to a more robust schedule of two. This means delivering even more valuable resources, including new recipes, deeper dives into managing Hashimoto’s disease, and expanded holistic health guidance.
- Enhanced Diet Plan Features: Continuously improving and adding new features to the existing 30 Day Gut Healing Diet Plan & Guide, ensuring it remains an invaluable tool for optimal wellness.
- Launch of a Major New Product: Actively developing a significant new product designed to further support the health and wellness journeys of my community, slated for release in the near future.
- Strategic Blogger Collaborations: Expanding partnerships with other influential health and wellness bloggers, fostering a supportive community and reaching new audiences with shared values.
- In-Person Programs and Public Speaking: A major personal and professional goal is to host in-person group programs and engage in public speaking opportunities, allowing for direct connection and broader impact.
- Aspirational Podcast Project: Launching a podcast is another huge goal! This would provide an auditory platform to share in-depth knowledge, interview experts, and connect with listeners in a new way. (Currently accepting applications for co-hosts – serious inquiries only! 😉)
Empowering Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs and Dream Chasers
It’s truly remarkable that we live in an era where the tools and opportunities exist for individuals to proactively build their ideal lives and careers. If you resonate with my story, if you’ve felt that compelling pull towards something more, here is my heartfelt advice to guide your own journey:
1. Start NOW, Not Later.
Do not allow perceived obstacles to paralyze you. Whether it’s the need for a specific certification, the completion of a degree, or the belief that you lack sufficient time, these are often just excuses. I initiated Unbound Wellness during the hectic period of wedding planning while simultaneously holding a full-time job. I continued to nurture and grow it through further education and multiple consulting roles. The critical takeaway is this: begin where you are, with what you have. You will undoubtedly be grateful that you did.
2. Embrace the Long Game; It Takes Time.
While stories of overnight success in the blogging and entrepreneurial world exist – tales of individuals achieving six-figure salaries within a couple of years – these are often the exception, not the rule. Most, including myself, are on a more gradual ascent. Similarly, some entrepreneurs might launch an e-book in a month; for me, it took six. Whatever your goal, a realistic expectation is that it will likely demand more time, effort, and persistence than you initially anticipate. Cultivate patience and resilience.
3. Network Relentlessly and Authentically.
One of the most enriching aspects of building Unbound Wellness has been the incredible community that has emerged – a network of individuals who offer support and whom I, in turn, am privileged to support. Proactively reach out to others who are pursuing paths similar to your aspirations. Instead of merely asking to “pick their brain,” approach them with a genuine desire to understand how you can contribute to their endeavors or collaborate on shared goals. Cultivate authentic friendships, forge meaningful connections, and never shy away from fearlessly initiating conversations that could lead to unexpected opportunities.
4. Operate with Grace and Integrity.
Professional relationships are invaluable assets. Never burn bridges, and never allow ego to suggest that you are “too good” for any opportunity or anyone. I am committed to maintaining a positive relationship with my former full-time employer and continue to work with long-standing consulting clients. Approach every transition, every interaction, and every challenge with grace, professionalism, and a spirit of collaboration. Your reputation is your most enduring currency.
5. Your Only True Limit Is Yourself.
Few things are more frustrating than hearing the limiting question, “So, with your credentials or goals, what can you *really* do?” My response is simple: who truly cares what others believe you can or cannot achieve? The path to becoming an e-book author and a nutritional therapist was certainly not a bulleted option on the brochure when I earned my digital marketing degree. Yet, it was precisely what I was driven to do. So, I took the initiative, researched, learned, and forged my own way.
Never permit the beliefs of others, their past achievements, or their perceived failures to dictate the boundaries of your own potential. The core belief that has guided my entire creative and entrepreneurial journey is this: if you aspire to be an expert, then *become* the expert. Dedicate yourself to acquiring the necessary knowledge, undertaking the essential tasks, and creating the impact you envision. The only genuine limiting factor is your own willingness to invest the effort required to manifest your aspirations.
In essence, what I am truly conveying is a profound sense of excitement, an overwhelming gratitude for this blessing, and an unshakeable readiness to commit every ounce of effort required to build this dream. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your unwavering support, endless inspiration, and cherished friendship <3 I eagerly anticipate continuing to provide even more valuable content and connection for all of you!
